July News From the Garden
The evergreen Magnolia delavayi is now coming into flower in the Top Lawn. It originates from near tropical latitudes of China at approximately 2,400 m altitude. This particular specimen was probably one of the first to be planted in the UK upon its introduction to garedens of the West in 1899.
At the pond the Waterlilies (Nymphaea cvt.) are now in flower, while the Gunnera manicata with its huge leaves creates a beautiful backdrop.
Behind the Walled Garden, Fuchsia ‘Lady Boothby‘ is blooming with profusion and will continue to do so for a few months, making this a very garden worthy plant!
